3:00 Press Conference for Orioles

The Orioles have announced a 3:00 pm press conference. Gee I wonder what that could be for. Seems they are going to have a Press Conference to announce the signing and return on Miguel Tejeda.

Tejeda back with the Orioles

Miguel Tejada will return to Baltimore after agreeing to a one-year, $6 million deal with the Orioles, the slugger told ESPNDeportes.com's Enrique Rojas on Saturday.

I for one am glad Tejeda has signed with the Orioles. I can see him hitting second in the lineup behind Roberts and in front of Markasis. This move will also then allow newly acquired Garret Atkins to play 1st base. Ty Wigginton will then backup both Atkins and Tejeda.
With this move this how I think the Lineup will look.

1. Roberts
2. Tejeda
3. Markasis
4. Wieters
5. Jones
6. Reimold
7. Scott
8. Atkins
9. Izturis

I thinlk the moves that Macphail this offseason will give us our 1st winning record since 1997.

Spring Training Invitees

Here is the list of 12 players the Orioles have invited to Spring Training.

Left-handers Chris George Mike Hinckley

right-handers Jake Arrieta, Frank Mata, Josh Perrault, Alfredo Simon and Ross Wolf

catchers Michel Hernandez, Caleb Joseph and Chad Moeller

outfielder Jeff Salazar

infielder Scott Moore.

The only who has a real chance of making the club out of Spring Training is Chad Moeller. He was the Backup for Both Gregg Zaun and then Matt Weiters after we traded Zaun to Tampa Bay. It will be interesting to see how Jake Arrieta does during the spring. He is one of the Top Prospects for the Orioles.

They "Del" Not Got Him

Well it seems like the rumors that Carlos Delgado (the last big bat left in Free Agency) did not sign with the Blue Jays. The reporter/blogger heard a rumor and just ran with it. Like Roch said on his blog
There's no need to fact-check anymore. Just get the rumor out there and worry about the details later - like whether it's false. I saw plenty of examples at the winter meetings.
Man, this business really has changed.

I Could Like This Lineup

If were to sign or trade for nobody else before the beginning of the season I think I could like this lineup we could put together.

1. Brian Roberts
2. Nick Markasis
3. Adam Jones
4. Nolan Reimold
5. Matt Weiters
6. Luke Scott
7. Garrett Atkins
8.Who ever plays 1st
9. Ceasar Izturis

Crede or Tejeda at 3rd Base

According to the Baltimore Sun.....
www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles/bal-sp.orioles19jan19,0,7347196.story

The Orioles have had talks and are interested in signing either Joe Crede or Miguel Tejeda who now seems to be more than willing to move away from his natural shortstop position to any infield position. If the O's do sign one of these guys then Garrett Atkins would take over the 1st base position.

Why not give Michael Aubrey a chance?

Having appeared in 31 games last season and batting .289 with seven doubles, four homers and 14 RBIs in 90 at-bats I think we should stop thinking about singing the leftovers at there at 1st like Carlos Delgado and Hank Blalock. Aubrey also has a much better glove than any of the Free Agents left.
We also have Josh Bell and Brandon Snyder waiting in the wings. If Josh Bell shows he can hit at Triple A then we also can shift over Garret Atkins over to 1st who played there in Colorado.
So lets think about giving the job to Aubrey.

Intro to the Blog World

I am just a fan of the Orioles who wants to get his thoughts about the team he grew up loving as a boy in Maryland. I hope you like what I have to say.
